Hypnosis Is A Natural
State
We experience the state of
hypnosis many times throughout our day without even realizing
it. We experience hypnosis when we daydream, when we are
driving, when we are dropping off to sleep at night and when
we are absorbed in a good movie or book.
We are in hypnosis any time
our critical faculty is bypassed and selective thinking is
established.
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis
to unlock the ability of the unconscious mind to bring about a
therapeutic change. A skilled Hypnotherapist achieves this by
relaxing the conscious mind, guiding the individual into deep
relaxation and giving needed suggestions to assist them in
creating the changes they desire.
Myths About Hypnosis
The most common myth about
hypnosis is that people will be made to do silly things
against their will. They think they will be asleep and have no
control over what is happening to them.
The truth is that you will
be completely aware of everything that is happening while you
are in hypnosis. You will be able to bring yourself out of
hypnosis at any time you choose. You will not do anything
while in hypnosis that you would not normally do.
Stage Hypnotists choose
people who are extroverts and who are willing to do silly
things to get attention. This is what makes the show
interesting. The people chosen would do the same things just
for the fun of it.
You are not asleep during
hypnosis. You will be in a very relaxed state and aware of
everything happening around you. You will hear everything said
to you and be able to choose what to accept.
